ENTRE NUBES, GOTAS Y FLORES
“Between Clouds, Drops and Flowers”
A collaboration with Casa Viviana, wax artists Jose and Petra Hernandez, for MACO (Museum of Contemporary Art Oaxaca)

Between Clouds, Drops, and Flowers is the space of life. The celestial clouds weep for the earth. Weep for its ephemeral beauty and the sweet sadness of all that passes through the cycles of life. The drops of rain gather and infiltrate the underworld of aquifers and wells. The wells irrigate and nourish the flowers. The bees visit the flowers pollinating and capturing their sweet nectar in the mystery of wax. And now the humans take up and complete the cycle: from the bees the wax, from the wax the flower-adorned candles, and the lighted candles marking the cycles of human life. Life emerges from the underworld as delicate wax flowers to mark the stages of life: birth, marriage, death. The spirit rising, the material returning to the earth, coming to a passing incarnation in Jose’s patio.

Una colaboración con maestros artesanos de la cera de Casa Viviana, José y Petra Hernández, para MACO (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca)
Instalación de cera e impresiones.
Entre nubes, gotas y flores se encuentra el espacio de la vida.
Las nubes celestiales dejan caer sus lágrimas sobre la tierra. Lloran su belleza efímera y la dulce tristeza de todo aquello que pasa a través de los siglos de la vida.
Las gotas de lluvia se juntan en los acuíferos y manantiales del mundo, quienes a su vez, irrigan y nutren a las flores, quienes a su vez atraen a las abejas. Estas polinizan las flores mientras capturan y transforman su dulce néctar en el misterio de la cera. Los humanos complementan este ciclo: de la cera crean velas adornadas de flores, y las velas encendidas, marcan los ciclos de la vida, mientras se van consumiendo.
Así, la vida emerge del inframundo en forma de delicadas flores de cera que señalan las etapas de la vida en la tradición zapoteca: nacimiento, matrimonio y muerte.
El espíritu se eleva, la materia regresa a la tierra y el ciclo de la vida se recrea eternamente en el patio de José.
